The Gallery Wall is Finished!

I finally finished the stinkin' gallery wall in my entryway. It took several weeks and lots of input from family, friends any my neighbor. I waaaaayyy over thought it and tried to make it "perfect" by measuring out all the frames and doing a mock trial layout with brown paper on the wall. AND I still couldn't get it right. I was so frustrated over it that I just started hanging frames up and you know what, it was sooo much easier!! I'm so glad it's over with. I'm still looking at it and tweaking it in my mind but I'm not touching it for a while. Oh except to straighten the frames on a daily basis because they won't stay straight. Because you know I have all the time in the world to be straightening frames. Not.

Is it exactly what I had in mind? Um no.
Do I have a gazillion holes in the wall from this wonderful project? Yep.
Do I smile every time I walk past it because it has pictures of my favorite people on it? You betcha!

Tip: If you want to do a gallery wall, don’t do what I did and do what Kate did.
She's way smarter than I. Or is it me?

Happy 8 month birthday boys!!!

Happy 8 month birthday boys!!

How time has flown by! You guys are growing up waaaay too fast! I feel like I’m still trying to adjust to having twins. Maybe when you turn 1 or 2 I’ll get used to the idea or maybe when you start school or maybe NEVER. I can tell the fun is just beginning because ya'll are crawling all over the place and getting into EVERYTHING. Time to baby-proof and get the baby gates out!!! Yes, I know it should have been done already but seriously, where is the time for extra stuff like that? I barely get a shower in or get a chance to potty! Baby proofing is one of those things I do when you're about to pull something down on top of yourself or when you put something in your mouth like sister's pom poms!

I remember when you were wee little and wishing you were 6 months old because for some reason I thought you would be sleeping through the night. Ha ha ha, joke’s on me!!!!!! One of these days, mommy and daddy will get at least 6-8 hours of sleep….. right?

We love you soooo much and are soooo thankful that God has given us such beautiful and healthy children. My heart is full and I couldn't ask for more!! Well maybe a maid but that's it really.

All I want for Christmas...

Well it's Christmas Eve and the family is sick. I mean, high fevers, ear infections, vomitting, diarrhea, runny nose and LOTS of coughing!!!! All 3 kids are sick and so are mommy and daddy.

So this year all I want for Christmas is a Z-Pack a.k.a. Zithromycin.
And a Nanny.
And a cleaning lady.
And a personal assistant.
That's all, not much really.

The 12 Stresses of Christmas

12 eggs to boil (deviled eggs)
11 diapers already changed today
10 toys on the floor
9 days til my birthday
8 shoes in the living room
7 gifts to wrap
6 loads of laundry
5 earrrrrr infectionnnnnns!!!
4 doctors visits
3 kids are sick
2 rounds of antibiotics
And a chance of snow on Christmas Eve!!!!!!!!!!! (yeah!!!)

My 3 Year Old and Gas

I love that my 3 year old is so inquisitive and wants to know everything about everything. However, she asks A Lot of questions and a lot of them I don't have the answers to. For example, I picked her up from school and this how the conversation went:

Lu: Mommy, I tooted!!
Me: OK, just say 'excuse me '.
Lu: Well, I'm just telllllinnngggg you.
Me: Ok, thanks.
Lu: Is that what you say when you toot?
Me: I don't toot.
Lu: Oh, just Daddy?
Me: Yes, just Daddy.
Lu: Well, I just toot because I have gaaaaaasss.
At this point I'm trying hard to keep a straight face.
Lu: Mommy, where does gas live?
Me: Uh, I don't know....I guess in your body.
Lu: Where? In your behind?
I bust out laughing not because she said 'behind' but how she said it. "BeeeHind."
Lu: What? Why are you laughing? That's what we call it at schoouuulllll. (Most of her words are pronounced with extra syllables)
Me: Yes, it lives in your behind.

I know one day I will truly miss having these types of conversations with my daughter, where she's curious about everything and finds the little things fascinating. Sometimes when we're in the car, I don't want to talk and just listen to the radio but I know one day when she's older, I'll be the one wanting to talk and will want her to tell me all about her day and what she did in school and all I will get is "nothing".

My First Post and Snow!

Well, Hello there!!
I"m so glad you're here. I've been wanting to start a blog for a while now but really didn't know how to go about it. After a little research I realized how simple it really is.

So let me introduce myself. I'm a thirty-something stay-at-home mom with a beautiful 3yr old daughter "Lu" and twin baby boys. We'll just call them "twin A" and "twin B".

I love scouring thrift stores and flea markets and making other people's trash my treasure.
I also love to sew. Things I've made in the past are clothes for my daughter, nieces, friends, custom baby onesies and household items such as curtains, cribskirts and pillows.

Being creative runs in my family. My mother taught my sister and I how to sew at a very young age and made us matching outfits. My sister has an art degree and teaches Junior High art. My grandfather was an artist and had his paintings and carvings in an art gallery in Colorado. Being creative is an outlet for me and helps keep me sane. I do most of this "after hours" when the kids are in bed and the house is quiet. It's my favorite time of day, except for naptime of course!

P.S. I almost forgot........we got snow! Not a big deal you say?? Oh but it is!! You see, it like never snows here. Ice storms, yes, but snow, hardly ever. And when it does, it's a big deal.....the schools even close! As soon as I saw it coming down I yelled to my husband "I think it's snowing!". His response, "no that's rain". But the more I stared at it the more it looked like snow. I hadn't had my second cup of coffee yet so I figured my vision was just blurry. And then I realized it was snow, big chunky snowflakes. "Lu get your rain boots on, it's snowing!!!". Her response, "what's snow?". So we go outside and honestly, my poor child didn't know what to do. Here's her mom with the camera giddy with excitement throwing her child outside in the cold for a photo opp. "Hurry, it's not going to last very long!" So she goes outside and turns around says "cheez". I said "do something." So she raises her hand.

"Stick your tongue out!" I tell her.


Ok, not exactly what I had in mind. "Like you're trying to catch a snowflake!"

Perfect!
